Conclusion of winter sport
Winter sport season has ended with thanks to our students for their positive participation as well as their families who support them, and our wonderful coaches and volunteers. Thank you for your service to our students.

Earlier this week at our presentations, we celebrated award winners across our Middle and Senior School sports teams. Congratulations to those deemed Most Valuable Player or received a Coach's Award, and congratulations to ourstudents who support their teammates, and are excellent sportspeople.

Summer sport
Summer sport kicks off Week 1 next Term and we look forward to seeing everyone get involved in the next season.

It is important that every student shows their committment to their team by arriving to training and games punctually and in the correct uniform for their sport.

Student Achievements
Congratulations to Claire Warburton (Year 11) for being selected to represent South Australia as part of the 17 Years and Under Softball team competing in the School Sport Australia Softball Championships. Claire has also recently been selected in the State U18 Girls Softball team that will complete in the National Championships in Perth in January 2023. Well done Claire on these incredible achievements, your Mercedes College family is extremely proud and wish you the best of luck at these two competitions.

Meanwhile, Paris Needs (Year 10) has been selected in the SA School Sport's Up to 18 Years Girls Soccer team. To qualify for this team, Paris had to have high attendance at school and complete numerous trials so it is a truly hard-earned achievement to be selected. She played in Sydney last month against all states and her team came fourth overall, the highest achievement for SA in 22 years. The tournament was highly competitive, with nine Junior or Young Matildas playing for New South Wales and five playing for Queensland. Paris said “We had a great time playing and bonding with girls from all over South Australia and I was lucky enough to have played with my sister, Hayley, too.” Congratulations Paris, we are all very proud of your achievements.

This week also saw award presentations for the Sports Association for Adelaide Schools (SAAS) and we had three students recognised at this event. Congratulations to Charlie McArthUr (Year 12), who received the SAAS Division 2 Football Medal as the best player in the competition as judged by the umpires across the season. The Golden Boot was awarded to Jah Arnold (Year 11) as the highest goal scorer across the SAAS league in Division 1 soccer, and Joe Ianniello (Year 11) was selected on the Team of the Year as a Right Back in Division 1 SAAS soccer. Congratulations to all of you for this city-wide recognition.

Finally, a big congratulations to the following students for being selected for three SANFLW Development Squads. This is a great achievement and we wish them all the best of luck.
