Student Leadership

Developing leadership skills is the core of our ethos here at Mercedes College. Through our formal leadership structure and other initiatives offered, all students are given the opportunity to express themselves and be a voice for the student body.

Our leaders demonstrate a range of skills including vision, reliability, commitment and inspiration with the Mercy Keys of Compassion, Loyalty, Justice, Integrity, Responsibility and Mutual Respect becoming the essence of this journey for them.

The Junior School Student Representative Council (SRC) Reception to Year 5 is coordinated by the Head of Junior School. Each class provides representatives that meet to organise activities and fund-raising events, such as Caritas Day.

In the Middle School, four Year 9 students are elected as Middle School Leaders. There are also peer elected  Year 7 House Leaders.

Year 12 School Captains are elected by both Middle School and Senior School students. These leaders represent the school at formal occasions, organise student activities and lobby for student needs and issues. They also have a major role in leading assemblies and liturgies.

A group of Year 12 SRC Executives assist the School Captains with their leadership roles.

The Senior School also offers numerous opportunities ranging from Sports Leaders to International Student Representatives.
