Every child carries within them a spark of curiosity, a capacity to grow, and the promise of a remarkable future.

At Mercedes College, we believe in nurturing that potential — encouraging young minds to dream boldly, learn deeply, and lead with purpose.

In partnership with our Old Scholar Association, Mercedes College offers a range of Excellence Scholarships that open doors for students of talent, character, and promise to join our vibrant and values-driven community.

These scholarships are an invitation to belong, to flourish, and to build a bright future.

Available for entry into Year 7—our Middle School—these scholarships are open to students who are not currently enrolled at Mercedes College.

Year 7 Excellence Scholarship

Our Year 7 Excellence Scholarship is open to students looking for an education focused on a wide range of learning experiences and extra-curricular opportunities (music, sport, chess, dance, robotics, debating). We also welcome students whose positive approach and strong personal values would contribute to our Mercedes College community.
This Scholarship meets up to 50% of the annual tuition fee* for Year 7, and for the following two years of Middle School years (Year 8 to Year 9). The scholarship does not have criteria such as academic results, sporting prowess or musical ability. Whilst these are certainly factors that are taken into account during the assessment process, we are also looking for students who have a good all-round approach to their learning, their personal strengths and their potential to grow and discover all that a Mercedes College education offers.

Year 7 Excellence Scholarship Criteria

Scholarship applicants are assessed against the following criteria, and shortlisted students are invited to an interview with our Principal and Head of Middle School, which may or may not include an aptitude test.

Applicants must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Demonstrate overall strong and consistent academic performance and future potential
    • This requires submission of prior academic record/transcript to the end of the previous year of study
  • Demonstrate pursuits in other areas such as sport, academic clubs, performing arts, visual arts, and/or music
  • Demonstrate involvement in an area of action, such as being a member of a community group or sporting club
  • Demonstrate community service, reflective of our six Mercy Keys, or values, which guide all we do at Mercedes
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities – confidence, willing to take risks, sharing ideas, stepping up to challenges

Applications typically open around September, for students in Year 5 who are looking to enter Mercedes College in Year 7.

* Our Scholarship excludes our Resources Fee and additional discretionary charges, including curriculum extension activity costs, uniform, and book/stationery resources.

MOSA Scholarship

The Mercedes Old Scholars’ Association (MOSA) offers a Senior School scholarship every three years, to give a student the benefit of a Mercedes College education, who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is committed to an education that blends academic achievement with personal and character development. Both merit and financial need are considered in the selection process.

Recipients of a MOSA Scholarship are gifted tuition fees* for their three-year Senior School experience, from Year 10 through to Year 12.

MOSA Scholarship Criteria

Scholarship applicants will be assessed against the following criteria, and shortlisted students will be invited to an interview with our Principal and Head of Senior School, which may or may not include an aptitude test.

Applicants must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Demonstrate overall academic performance and future potential
    • This requires submission of prior academic record/transcript to the end of the previous year of study
  • Demonstrate involvement in other areas of excellence such as sport, academic clubs, performing arts, visual arts, and/or music
