Positions are available for Reception Mid-Year (Term 3) 2018 and Reception 2019. Limited positions are also available in Year 1, 2 and 3 in 2018 and 2019. Please contact the Registrar for opportunities in the Middle and Senior schools.

The 2018 mid-year intake will provide increased flexibility by allowing children to attend either 3, 4 or 5 days per week. This will allow children with birth dates from 1 May to 31 October to adapt to school at their own pace in a supportive and positive environment.

Years of Entry

There are four main years of entry to Mercedes College: Reception, Year 6, Year 7 and Year 8 with limited vacancies in the Junior School (Years 1, 2 and 3) and in the Senior School (Years 10, 11 and 12).

Where vacancies occur at other year levels, positions will be offered to families with children on the registration list according to our Enrolment Policy Criteria.

For immediate enrolments please contact the Registrar to discuss your requirements.

Enrolment Process

  1. Registration of Interest
Complete an online Registration of Interest form
To give your child/ren the best opportunity of enrolment we recommend you lodge a Registration of Interest at the earliest opportunity. Upon lodgement of the completed Registration of Interest the child’s name will be placed on a wait list for the year of entry. If you would prefer a paper form, please contact our Registrar.
  2. Orientation Walk
Families are invited to attend an Orientation Walk at Mercedes College either prior to or after lodging the Registration of Interest. We encourage all families to participate in an Orientation Walk so you can experience the College as the students and staff go about their daily activities.
  3. Application for Enrolment
Approximately 18 months prior to the anticipated date of commencement of the student an Application for Enrolment will be sent for completion as a position becomes available. If they have not already been supplied, a copy of the following documents will be requested: the most recent academic reports (Years 1 – 12), any relevant assessments, a Parish Priest or family reference, and a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate.
  4. Offer of Position
On receipt of the completed Application for Enrolment, these documents will be reviewed and a position may be offered. The written Offer of Position will request that the Acceptance of Enrolment be signed and returned to the College along with a Confirmation Fee of $1000.00 for the first child in the family and $800.00 for subsequent children. $500.00 of this Confirmation Fee will be credited to your first fee account with the balance of the Confirmation Fee being a non-refundable administration charge. Should the child’s enrolment be cancelled prior to commencement the full Confirmation Fee payment is non-refundable.
  5. Interview
After receiving your confirmation of acceptance of the position, an interview will be organised for your child. This meeting is an essential part of each student’s transition into the College and will allow you and your child another opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
  6. Nomination Forms
Online Nomination Forms are for you to select your child(ren’s) sport, subject and extra-curricular activities. If you are yet to complete the forms, please click here to register your child(ren’s) name(s) and follow the prompts to nominate their preferences for 2017.

Please note where there is more than one household for the child(ren) please ensure only one nomination form is completed.

Enrolment Policy

The following criteria approved by the Mercedes College Council is a guide to the selection procedure. Mercedes College is a Catholic school, and it is the expectation of all families to be supportive of the ethos and philosophy it upholds.

Priority will be given to:

  1. Children of families with a child already attending the College
  2. Children of Old Scholars
  3. Children of Catholic families (those who have attended a regional parish school have some priority)
  4. For entry at Year 8, children of denominations other than Catholic, who have attended a regional parish school
  5. Children of families of other denominations, where vacancies occur.

It should be noted, that in some cases, the College is unable to accept all students who have completed a Registration of Interest for Enrolment. Completion of this Registration of Interest for Enrolment does not guarantee your child a position within the College.
