Venue Manager

About the role

The Venue Manager plays a pivotal role in the smooth operation of the College’s largest gymnasium, enabling the effective delivery of many and varied co-curricular sport activities.

Venue Manager duties include:

  • Supporting day-to-day venue operations, including tidiness, first aid administration and equipment preparation.
  • Opening and closing College gymnasium and facilities for sporting events, including set up and pack up equipment.
  • The welcome and coordination of officials, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Providing active supervision and engagement with visitors.
  • Managing issues such as injuries, system malfunctions, and amenity breakdowns.
  • Ensuring student supervision and collection after matches.
  • Preparing signage and enforcing College expectations.
  • Communicating with staff, and coordinating with external agencies in emergencies.

About you

The Venue Manager will possess:

  • A passion for sport, in particular for the participation of young people in sporting endeavours as well as competitive sport.

Daily Coordinator

Full-time contract for Term 3 (Monday 22 July - Friday 27 September 2024)

About the role

The Daily Administration Coordinator is responsible for ensuring, in collaboration with relevant staff, that appropriate staffing levels are maintained in the Middle and Senior School on a daily basis. 

The role requires a collaborative professional who can work as a member of a broader administrative function to:

Clerical/administrative duties:

  • Administratively coordinate the day-to-day operations of the College with the allocation of appropriate staffing levels under the general guidance and supervision of the Head of Senior School in accordance with College policies and procedures and the Enterprise Agreement. This will require out of hours work for the provision of receiving and making phone calls, emails etc.
  • Work with relevant staff to strategically plan in advance the coverage of staff absences for various school activities (ie. Excursions, camps, examinations etc), for the Middle and Senior School.
  • Work with relevant staff to strategically plan and cover absences for short term pre-planned staff leave (ie. LSL - for up to 3 weeks).
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the College yard duty rosters.
  • Oversee the completion of time sheets, leave records and payroll paperwork for Middle and Senior School Staff.
  • Oversee the completion of time sheets and payroll paperwork for Casual Relief Teachers and producing timely reports to the payroll department for the payment of relief teachers.
  • Generate various reports directly related to role, to various relevant staff as required or requested.
  • Maintain a healthy reserve of Casual Relief Teachers, ensuring all current with the College required criteria of certifications.

  • Previous experience in an administrative or management role in a school.
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable competence in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent understanding of College activities and College policies and procedures in regards to staffing requirements.
  • Good understanding and interpretation of the South Australian Catholic Schools Enterprise Agreement and relevant Awards.
  • Basic First Aid Certificate (training will be provided as required).
  • Current Police Clearance in accordance with the Child Protection Policy of the South Australian Commission of Catholic Schools (SACCS).

HR Coordinator

This short term role of Human Resources Coordinator at Mercedes College will cover a period of leave for the Human Resources Officer. The role will support the Executive Director of Human Resources through the delivery of administrative HR duties across the employee lifecycle to ensure the continued smooth operation of the function during this time.

We are committed to an exceptional customer experience for our internal staff and all stakeholders who engage with the function (including applicants for vacant roles). 

The contract will commence Monday 3 July 2024 and conclude Thursday 18 July 2024.

  • The role is 0.8FTE (30 hours per week), Monday-Thursday (can be flexible for the right candidate).
  • The position is based on Campus at Mercedes College with limited scope for work from home.
  • The incumbent would receive a thorough handover (six days) with the substantive incumbent.

The role

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Maintaining compliance requirements for the College for staff, students (as required), volunteers and contractors, for Working with Children Checks (WWCC), Catholic Clearances, Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect Training (RRHAN) and Inductions modules.
  • Managing the employee lifecycle process, including; advertising, selection, employment contracting, onboarding, inducting, probation management, performance appraisal and offboarding. 
  • Manage the maintenance of personnel records, including recording relevant induction forms.
  • Completing HR Administration, including; preparation of relevant employment related letters, minute taking, filing, scanning, word processing and document formatting
  • Monitoring of the Human Resources/Recruitment/Police Check inbox, responding to routine enquiries and escalating enquiries of greater complexity to the Executive Director of Human Resources. 
  • Assisting the Executive Director of Human Resources with coordination of the annual employee engagement survey, including generating and distributing reports, preparing results packs and other relevant administrative duties.

About you

  • Diploma qualification (comprising 1 year of full-time study) in Human Resource Management or demonstrated equivalent competencies identified in relevant certifications. Accreditation with the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) as a Certified Human Resources Practitioner is highly desirable; 
  • Some exposure to a HR generalist role, including experience drafting and interpreting employment agreements and other employment related letters;
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment, including drafting vacancy advertisements, planning and coordinating selection processes;
  • Experience working effectively with sensitive and highly confidential information, displaying discretion and judgement. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Catholic ethos and to the mission and values of the College

About the role

To cover maternity leave, Mercedes College is seeking applications from teachers interested in a temporary replacement opportunity with either a Year 4 or Year 5 class, commencing Monday 26 August (Term 3, Week 6) and ending Friday 6 December 2024 (Term 4, Week 8).

A thorough handover with the existing incumbents will be provided throughout Term 3, week 6.
